Teeth are sometimes exfoliated from the oral cavity prematurely, this creates a tendency for the adjacent teeth to move mesially in the direction to exfoliated tooth and closing the space. Now, this can be problematic as the erupting permanent tooth might not have sufficient space to erupt and this leads to malalignment.

The mandible is the most commonly fractures bone when compared with other facial bones. Although the incidence of mandibular fractures has decreased these days, still oral and maxillofacial surgeons do deal with them when presented mostly due to road traffic accidents. 

When talking about mandibular fractures, it is important that the etiology of these fractures and ways of classifying it must be known. Ultimately, classification helps in planning the treatment plan for the patient, which is different for each patient.

Management of Cross Bite -Orthodontics

In this video, we talk about Odontogenic Keratocyst (OKC), which is one of the most common occurring cysts in both the maxilla and mandible. One of the common factors that lead to the development of OKC is the impaction of teeth, which is more common with third molars, both in the maxilla and mandible.

When teeth are missing from the oral cavity and swelling is also present, the doctor should suspect some pathological lesion that might be present. A common occurrence of OKC mandates its number to be high up on the differential diagnosis list.

Histopathology, clinical features, and radiographs are all of vital importance to arrive at a definitive diagnosis for a patient. So these features are to learn about OKC for its better understanding and treatment planning. 


Odontogenic Keratocyst -Clinical features, Radiology, Histology and Treatment.

In this video, we talk about Dentigerous Cyst in detail! Dentigerous Cyst is one of the most common cysts occurring in the mandible and maxilla. Almost always it is associated with an unerupted tooth. When patient has a missing third molar especially, a swelling around it can give a dental surgeon an idea of the presence of a dentigerous cyst, although not confirmed as yet.

To reach a definitive diagnosis, histology is the most important tool to use. Radiology along with it helps in determining the extent to which the cyst has spread and to determine its location. All these methods then help in determining the best treatment option for the patient.

Watch a Guided Implant Surgery from beginning to the end, no cuts and on a real patient. In this video lesson, Dr. O demonstrates how to take a 3D impression of the missing tooth site and mesh it with radiographs in order to create a 3D map of the implant placement site. He is then able to place the implant guided by a computer to give the patient a much more comfortable procedure and a quick recovery!

This video is a great starting point for anyone new to the field of Implant dentistry and also for dentists who are well-versed in the topic but looking for better and more predictable surgical techniques.

Traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) occur with great frequency in preschool, school age children and young adults comprising 5% of all injuries for which people seek treatment. Literature reports that 25% of all school children experience dental trauma and 33% of adults have experienced trauma to the permanent dentition with the majority of injuries occurring before age 19. TDIs present a challenge to clinicians worldwide. Consequently, proper diagnosis treatment planning and follow-up are critical to assure a favourable outcome. Traumatic dental injuries may jeopardize pulp survival in the affected teeth. Treatment of traumatized teeth depends on the type, location and severity of each injury. Luxation injuries and avulsions are the most frequent traumatic causes for pulp necrosis resulting in the need for endodontic treatment. Pulp necrosis, chronic and cystic apical periodontitis can be the fate if traumatized teeth are left untreated. In this webinar we will experience how to provide a long term restorative management for different dental injuries including luxation, avulsion and tooth fractures.
